Privatization Report - July 6, 2020
California: Palisades Charter High School, which double-dipped into the government trough to supplement the money they are diverting from public schools with funds from this PPP program, let go of essential staff. “Ignoring the reason for their $4,606,000 windfall, the governing board of Pali voted this month to lay off five members of their staff and reduce the hours for 18 other employees. Marilyn Koziatek Did Not Do Her Homework
In addressing the financial difficulties faced by the LAUSD at a recent candidate forum, challenger Marilyn Koziatek used a lot of buzzwords and filler but did not give the in-depth answers that would show that she had a firm grasp of the issues. The students of LAUSD’s Board District 3 are depending on someone who has done their homework and can fight for their interests from day one.
Incumbent Scott Schmerelson is a lifetime educator who had experience as a principal, counselor, and teacher even before he joined the board. In these critical times, his continued presence on the LAUSD School Board is what our students need.
