Luis Lopez

Dear Neighbor in Northeast and Eastside L.A.—

I speak from experience when I say it’s wise to support public schools AND wonderful to have local classroom teachers on your side.

Luis Lopez has earned the endorsement of United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA). It’s another reason I’m proud to support Luis s our next Assemblymember. I hope you join me in voting for Luis this Tuesday, Dec. 5.

I am supporting Luis with great enthusiasm. Why?

Luis is simply the best: a highly skilled leader with a long track record of serving our communities who is truly unbought and unbossed. He will serve and win for US.

His opponent, Wendy Carrillo, moved into the district in May 2017 to campaign for this seat. Carrillo and her cronies in outside interests have mailed voters huge stacks of materials that are full of talk but not a single fact about anything Carrillo has done or delivered for people here or our communities. Candidacies like this are part of the problem.

Luis is a key ingredient in the solution. From East L.A., where Luis was born, to Silver Lake and Eagle Rock, where he has lived for 15 years since returning from earning his public policy degree at Harvard, he has been a clean, hardworking, and honest builder of community for civil rights, affordable housing, parks and against pollution.

Luis is the trustworthy voice we need for better schools, good paying jobs, and more opportunities for all of our families to succeed. This is exactly what Luis will deliver from Day One as Assemblymember.

UTLA and La Opinion join a long list of respected organizations and leaders supporting Luis López, including Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, Equality California, former Supervisor Gloria Molina, Congresswoman Judy Chu, state Controller Betty Yee, Sheet Metal Workers Local 105, National Union of Healthcare Workers, all 6 organizations of local Democrats that carefully evaluated candidates and endorsed in the election, and more than 250 in-district leaders in our communities.

Join me TUESDAY in voting for a true leader for us, our hopes for the next generation, and our dreams for a better world with health, education, liberty, and justice for all: Luis Lopez for Assembly.

With warm regards,

Jackie Goldberg, Assemblymember (ret.)

Luis ALSO earned the resounding endorsement by the daily Spanish-language newspaper La Opinion. “Luis Lopez has the advantage...his seriousness, responsibility, experience, how he has built his campaign and his plans for governing: these all merit the endorsement of this paper. We believe in his capacity for action and that his help to the community will only increase through his service from Sacramento. Vote for Luis Lopez for the 51st District!”
